Where are the safer and secure digital reporting pathways for children in this digital age?

Safeguarding children’s co-design can be found at the intersection of social care and social work, safeguarding practice, service design, online safety, social welfare, human and services and children’s rights.
Furthermore, purposefully safeguarding children’s co-design are child-led methods to increase children and young people’s digital accessibility as well as addressing the global issue of children and young people under reporting abuse both off and online. Creating secure digital pathways that allows them to be in control of their information and when they choose to share their information is the only way forward.
Information sharing is a significant factor and practise within safeguarding children however we omit the child from this process. The children of today find their lived experience within a digital world have little access to digitally safe and secure pathways. For example, a child or young person cannot digitally refer themselves into social care agencies when seeking help; they feel unable to reporting abuse online and when they do their concerns appear to remain stagnant with little joining up with protective services.
Children’s voices can be incorporated if there is investment in innovative safeguarding technologies that are co-designed with them as the end users.
